Maua (Mozambique): Renovation of Center for Women Empowerment

Currently, in Mozambique, thousands of people are in need of work to help support themselves and their families. For many years, in Maua, in the North of the Country, the Consolata Missionaries have operated the Center for Women Empowerment. In this facility, women along with their children receive training courses in proper nutrition and sewing skills. These skills are necessary not only to obtain employment but also to bring some degree of personal fulfillment as they take care of their families. At the center, food and medical assistance are provided for those in attendance as well.

The problem

The building (which was set up more than 25 years ago) is now showing clear signs of decay. The roof has to be remade and the bathroom plumbing needs repairing. In addition, supplies such as sewing machines and materials are also needed. The cost of the renovations and necessary supplies is approximately $12,000. Our Consolata Missionaries are dedicated to help in whatever way they can, but they are short of the funds to meet these expenses.

Your support is vital to the efforts of our missionaries since without it, they could not afford to keep the facility functioning. The women who attend the courses will benefit more than any one could imagine. They and their children will have the education they need, the skills that are so important and finally food and medical care. This is why this center is one we are desperately trying to keep open.
