Repainting Neisu Hospital: more than a face lift, a matter of care

In the huge forest at the north of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in the 1980s, the Consolata Missionaries built a hospital. Currently, Neisu Hospital – this is its name – has 146 beds and is the only health center for the 50,000 people of that region.

In the past months, Ivo, a Consolata Lay Missionary, who has been working in the DRC, as a volunteer, for a dozen years or more, was asked to be the administrator of this Hospital. Some time before Christmas, he wrote us a letter asking for help.

One of the first necessities that was pointed out to him, as soon as he assumed his office, is the repainting of the whole building. Something that has been on the waiting list for years and that can not be postponed any longer! The quote for this work, that Ivo attached to his letter, is just over $10,300. At first sight, this amount might seem surprising, but Neisu Hospital is large and this quote foresees the repainting of all the patients rooms, the theater, lab, administration offices, kitchens, laundry, etc.

To repaint this health center is not only a matter of decor, but of hygiene and respect for all those who use and work in it. It is much more than a cosmetic touch, it is a matter of care!

On behalf of all the patients who will benefit from the improvement of this providential hospital, we wholeheartedly thank you in advance for your most generous support.
